HOW TO STUDY FOR EXAMINATIONS

While it has been argued severally that formal examination is not the best test of a students knowledge, it remains one of the most accepted methods of students assessment in formal education. Exams can either make or mar you. Hence the need to excel in exams can not be over-emphasized. Here are some keys to excellent performance in exams.

1. Long before exams have a study plan and develop a suitable time table. This is critical. The reason so many students fail exams is that they only start intensive studies a few weeks or even days to their exams.

2. Study in a convenient location and your best time of assimilation. Don't overstretch your brain when diminishing returns have set in.

3. Learn to take notes during your studies and summarize important points.

4. Don't just read through a topic like newspaper. STUDY!!!! TRY TO RECALL.

5. Make sure are able to cover the syllabus at least 2 weeks before exams.

6. Practice past examination questions if they are available. Also ensure that you read through your summarized notes as you may not be able to cover a textbook during exams.

7. Learn to pray. A favorite quote during my undergraduate days was "academics has gone spiritual". Work very hard, pray, believe God. Be confident and you will excel.
